May the Force Be with You at the Backlot Express
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… well, actually, not that long ago, and not that far away, sits Disney World’s Backlot Express. Located in Hollywood Studios between Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and Star Tours, you will find the Backlot Express. The Backlot Express is your typical Disney Dining Plan quick service, but with a Star Wars-themed twist. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat. With an open and inviting atmosphere, Disney’s Backlot Express is a must-do.
Phantom It Is Not
The Backlot Express opened back in 1989. While the restaurant hasn’t undergone major renovations or changes over the years, it did take on more of a Star Wars theme in 2015. It is an ideal location to embrace your Star Wars passion while construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continues. Lucky for you, you don’t have to wait until 2019 to have some Star Wars fun.
It’s impossible to miss the Backlot Express while you are venturing through Disney’s Hollywood Studios. From the outside, the building looks like a giant, warehouse building. The inside is much the same. The cathedral ceilings and wooden framing makes it feel like you are in a movie studio warehouse. Furthermore, movie props and memorabilia are scattered throughout the different rooms of the restaurant. If you look carefully, you’ll even find some movie props that were used in actual movies!
Much to Eat You Have
Even though Disney’s Backlot Express is similar to your typical counter-service restaurant, there is still a wide variety of menu options. Whether you’re looking to eat a full meal or just a snack, there is something for everyone. You’ll also eating options for vegetarians and children.
Lunch and Dinner Dining
First and foremost, you’ll find your classic quick service meal options. For example, Backlot Express serves chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and burgers. Sides such as waffle fries and French fries are also available. Additional menu items offer a Star Wars-themed variation. For instance, one of the entrees is The Dark Side Chicken and Waffles. With this meal, you’ll get Darth Vader Waffles! Some other Star Wars-themed items are: the Galactic Salad and the Galactic Chicken Salad. Also, children can order a kid’s size Dark Side Chicken and Waffles. The usual Power Pack and Smucker’s Uncrustables are available, too. Lastly, if you don’t eat meat, you can enjoy the Caprese Sandwich or the Galactic Salad.
Out of This Galaxy Desserts
One of the great things about The Backlot Express is that they serve fairly wealthy portions. However, you don’t want to fill up on the entrees! If you like to eat on the “dark side,” you’ll definitely want to try the desserts. The Darth Vader Chocolate Cupcake with Peanut Butter Buttercream is out of this galaxy! I challenge you to try and eat just one. Furthermore, you can also try the Chocolate Mousse or the BB-8 Lemon Cupcake with Vanilla Buttercream.
Wait Not I Beg You
The Backlot Express is sure to provide you with another magical Disney memory. Be sure not to leave without your Star Wars souvenir cup. Kids and adults alike will love taking some of the Star Wars magic with them to go. You can choose from Chewbacca, Boba Fetta, or the BB-8. Whether you’re looking to grab some food, or you just want some relief from the Florida sun and heat, you’ll find what you’re looking for at The Backlot Express. Affordable and fun.
