Tucked in beside Disney’s Beach Club Resort is Cape May Cafe. Quaint and coastal, it is reminiscent of a 1920s seaside resort. Open for breakfast and dinner, Cape May Cafe boasts a large buffet and some of the best seafood at Walt Disney World. Conveniently, this restaurant also accepts two of Walt Disney World’s Disney Dining Plans: the Disney Dining Plan, and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan.

When you walk into Cape May Cafe, the first thing you may notice is how the cafe looks like something straight out of a yacht club in 1920s New England. Stick style architecture gives the spacious dining room a maritime feel. The theme is topped off with decor straight out of a beach-side resort. The whole experience is charming.

If it’s a hearty breakfast you’re after, this little place has you covered. Beginning at 7:30 AM and running until 11:00 AM, Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast is a breakfast buffet. This service features a wide selection of both hot and cold food. The spread includes some verifiable Disney favorites, such as the famous Mickey waffles and a yogurt bar that includes all sorts of toppings. The chorizo scrambled eggs and frittatas also come highly recommended. Since it has such a large number of selections, there really is something for everybody.

Breakfast at Cape May Cafe is one of the Character Meals you can experience while at Walt Disney World. Character Meals are always popular attractions, though it is often a little bit easier to get a reservation here than some other Character Meal restaurants. The characters that are usually at Cape May Cafe are Minnie, Donald Duck, and Goofy, and they’re all dressed in beach attire. Fortunately, this Character Meal tends to be a little less hectic than the others. Here, the characters can take their time visiting with guests. So, prepare yourself to tuck into a plate of cheddar grits and get a couple of autographs. This will definitely start your day off right.

Dinner at Cape May Cafe

Another highlight at this beach resort cafe is the seafood buffet in the evening. Running from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, dinner service here is certainly one of the best seafood feasts at Walt Disney World. It has a truly Yankee flair,
serving classic dishes like fried clam strips, paella, and New England-style clam chowder. Yet, guests really love the mountains of steamed clams and mussels, peel-and-eat shrimp, and steamed crab legs.

Cape May Cafe RestaurantHowever, dinner service at Cape May Cafe is not exclusively centered around seafood. This restaurant offers several options for those who prefer turf over surf, so to speak. First of all, the buffet offers a carving station serving tender beef strip loin. For those in the mood for white meat, Cape May Cafe offers barbecued chicken as well. Also, the selection of sides at this buffet is quite impressive at 13 different side dishes. Even vegetarians have some delicious offerings here, including quinoa salad, seasonal vegetables, and vegetable pasta. Finally, the dessert bar offers a small selection of tasting-sized desserts. The dessert slices are small so you don’t have to pick just one! Be sure to try Cape May’s Signature Oreo Bon Bons; they are delicious.

Finally, Cape May Cafe offers a children’s menu for kids who don’t feel quite up to trying the dishes on offer to the grownups. Features on the children’s buffet include cod nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and chicken drumsticks. There really is something for the entire family here.

Special Events at Cape May Cafe

One event that Cape May Cafe is renowned for is its Easter Sunday dinner buffet. The cafe takes the opportunity to expand their evening offerings for the holiday. The cafe has not yet announced this year’s menu. However, in previous years, Cape May Cafe served roast leg of lamb and flank steak and an expanded salad and side dish board on top of the buffet’s usual fare. Every year, this promises to be a must-have dinner. However, due to limited space, I recommend making reservations for Easter Sunday as early as possible to ensure you get a table.

In short, Cape May Cafe is definitely a restaurant you should check out. This is not a buffet to miss out on!
