Disney’s Pop Century Resort Review
Walt Disney’s Pop Century Resort is one of the most affordable resorts within Walt Disney World. The resort offers all the benefits on staying on property at an “off-property” price point.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is classified as a “value” resort, but don’t mistake value with basic. Pop Century is anything but basic. The resort features pop culture favorites from the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The resort is bright, festive and fun. Parents will love the flashbacks from their past, while kids will get kick out of
Enjoying Your Stay
As with all things Disney, the Pop Century Resort has more than it’s share of Disney magic. The décor, both inside and out, is fun and exaggerated, creating the type of ambience only Disney can. There are larger than life characters, murals and even a foosball field.
Located across a pond, and within walking distance, to fellow value resort Disney’s Art of Animation, guests of Pop Century also have the opportunity to access the amenities at Walt Disney World’s newest resort.
My kids actually enjoy the fun of the value resorts over deluxe resorts.
Disney’s Pop Century may not be scream luxury, but where they excel is in convenience. Created to appeal to young families, the Pop Century resort is the ideal choice for families looking for value. They offer room-service pizza delivery, as well as two quick-service dining options on site. The Everything Pop Shopping and Dining is perfect for groups on the go. The dining area can get quite busy, especially in the mornings. However, the “grab and go” services allows you quickly get on your way to the parks.
Dining For The Entire Family
Service may be quick, it certainly isn’t lacking. You kids will be begging for Mickey Mouse waffles every morning! Admittedly the options aren’t as plentiful as some of the more full service or specialty restaurants at other resorts, however, they are almost fully customizable. With seven different stations, such as pasta, grilling, sandwiches, etc., the Everything Pop Shopping and Dining is truly a one-stop shop for dining sure to satisfy the taste buds of the entire family.
The second “dining” option at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is geared for Mom and Dad! With a tropical assortment of adult beverages that all but demands to be enjoyed poolside, the Petals Pool Bar is a must see. And trust me, you will enjoy the poolside.
Swimming, Pop Century Style
Maybe the most impressive aspect of Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the trio of themed pools. Disney’s Pop Century resort pools each gather inspiration from a memorable era. Peace signs and lots of flower power adorn the largest pool at the resort inspired by the 1960’s, the Hippy Dippy Pool. This pool also hosts Family Movies Under the Stars on select nights. Drawing it’s inspiration from the 1950’s, The Bowling pool is the resort’s second largest pool. Aptly named, it’s even shaped like an actual bowling pin! The third pool, inspired by the 1990’s, is the Computer Pool. Floppy discs for everyone!
Getting to the parks is also super easy and convenient at Disney’s Pop Century. As with all Disney resorts, guests can access complimentary bus shuttles to all Walt Disney World attractions. This includes all theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs.
Insider tip: if you happen to miss a bus, or the line is excessively long, take a quick walk over to the Art of Animation and hop in line there! Or, take advantage of the proximity of it’s sister resort and sample even more dining and swimming options. My kids never mind an extra walk through the Art of Animation. Trails lined with larger than life characters make the small hike too much fun to seem like a chore.
As a Disney resort guest, you also get early-access (check with the front desk for the schedule) to Disney parks.
So Stay At Disney’s Pop Century Resort
With room rates starting around $115 USD, Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the ideal choice for budget-conscious families looking to save money, will still reaping the benefits of staying on-site.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is currently in the midst of minor renovations and refurbishments. But fear not, all amenities and services including pools and dining will remain available throughout. Minor disturbances may occur, however, they should not be heard within the guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 a.m.
