Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Much More Than A Hotel

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. When you think of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, what comes to mind? Expensive? Elegant? Classy? Yes. The Grand Floridian is expensive, elegant, and classy. But, it’s also much more. Everything you could possibly want in a hotel is found in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Restaurants, shopping, recreation, and amenities are just a small part of what makes Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort so special.

First and foremost, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is a hotel. It is well known for its modern Victorian-style theme. The architectural design is impeccable. From the outside, you’ll observe a stunning, white exterior and a red shingled roof. Then, you’ll travel back in time. As soon as you step into the main lobby you’ll notice large crystal chandeliers and marble floors. A cage-like elevator replica, a grand staircase, and stained glass domes are some of the other Victorian decorations you’ll see.

Guests have the option of staying in a room with one of three views. There is: Theme Park View, Lagoon View, and Garden View. Theme Park View rooms usually have good views of Magic Kingdom. Most of the Lagoon View rooms have fantastic views of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The remaining rooms are considered Garden View rooms. These rooms overlook areas of the hotel’s property. Some views may include the pools, other hotel buildings, or the beautiful, landscaped grounds.

You can also choose your room style. Standard, Deluxe, and 1 or 2 Bedroom Suites are available. If you are willing to dive even deeper into your wallet, you might think about staying in a Club (Concierge) Level Room. As a Club Level Guest, you’ll have different cast members to serve any needs you have. Cast members help with checking in, carrying luggage, and preparing your bed at night. They can help with making dinner reservations or purchasing park tickets, too. Club Level Guests even have access to free food and drink during most of the day! Now that’s some mouse-tastic service!

The Grand Floridian doesn’t disappoint when it comes to amenities. You’ll find basic lodging amenities in your room. For example, you’ll have Wi-Fi, dressers, and a television. You will have an ironing board/iron, coffee maker, and mini-refrigerator, too. Don’t worry! You’ll also get your favorite mini shampoos and bar soaps! Additionally, you’ll have access to laundry services, merchandise delivery/pickup, and babysitting services.

In addition to the typical room and guest amenities, guests also have access to Senses- A Disney Spa. Senses offers massages, facials, rejuvenating body treatments, and nail services. The spa contains a 24-hour fitness center as well.

Dining and Shopping

Most Disney resorts have at least one dining location on site. The Grand Floridian actually has SEVEN restaurants on its property! Victoria & Albert’s is known as the resort’s most sophisticated restaurant. This restaurant only has 18 tables. Therefore, you’ll want to make your reservation as soon possible! Other restaurants located within The Grand Floridian are: Citricos, The Grand Floridian Café, Narcoossee’s, 1900 Park Fare, the Garden View Tea Room, and the Gasparilla Island Grill. Additionally, the Supercalifragilistic Character Breakfast and “Cinderella’s Happily Ever After” Character Dinner are located at 1900 Park Fare.

In addition to its several restaurants, The Grand Floridian has five gift shops. First, the Sandy Cove and M. Mouse Mercantile are your typical souvenir gift shops. You can find everything from mouse ears to stuffed animals and clothing. Commander Porter’s sells men’s apparel and Summer Lace sells women’s apparel. Lastly, Basin sells the highest quality bath and body merchandise.

Additionally, The Grand Floridian provides many recreational activities. First and foremost, The Grand Floridian has 2 pools: a beach side pool and a courtyard pool. The Courtyard Pool is considered the more peaceful of the two pools. It contains a hot tub as well. The Beach Pool overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon. Its main attraction is the water slide. The Alice in Wonderland water play area is near the Beach Pool, too. Kids will love splashing in this water wonderland. In addition, guests can rent cabanas.

Many other activities are available throughout the resort. Guests can play arcade games, jog or walk on the lagoon trail, or enjoy a campfire and movie. Additionally, guests can partake in a fishing excursion or a private water vessel adventure. You can even reserve a Specialty Fireworks Cruise! Motorized boat rentals are also available.

One of the most magical parts of staying at The Grand Floridian Resort is the fireworks. You can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant right from the resort’s beach.  You can avoid the crowds and the hustle and bustle of getting in and out of Magic Kingdom. All you have to do is lounge on the quiet beach of The Grand Floridian. How magical is that?

Finally, one of the key benefits of The Grand Floridian is direct access to the monorail. The monorail provides transportation to 4 areas. The monorail travels to the Contemporary, the Polynesian, Magic Kingdom, and the Ticket and Transportation Center (which provides separate monorail service to Epcot). Guests can also travel to Magic Kingdom by boat. Disney buses transport guests too. You can get to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs by bus.
