Into the Woods: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
Nestled in the woods near the Seven Seas Lagoon is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. This charming log cabin style resort is inspired by the Pacific Northwest. With impressive views and rustic charm, it’s no wonder that it’s such a popular resort. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers deluxe accommodations in its main lodge and includes traditional resort rooms, larger suites, and club level. The Wilderness Lodge is also home to Disney Vacation Club’s Boulder Ridge Villas that include studios, 1 and 2 bedroom villas.
In addition to accommodations, the Wilderness Lodge has several pools and hot tubs. And, the views from these are spectacular. You’ll see the Seven Seas Lagoon, a waterfall, and a sprawling view of the lodge itself. Boulder Ridge Villas also has its own pool too. If you’re interested in other water activities, you can also rent motorized boats or even go fishing. So, when we say you can plenty of water time, we mean it.
There are also a ton of other outdoor activities. You can rent bikes to tour the resort. Or, if running or walking is more your speed, take advantage of jogging trails. Disney also offers movies under the stars nightly, and often show classic animated films. To get into the camping spirit, enjoy a good old fashioned marshmallow roast and campfire in the evening too.
And one of my favorite activities is the Electrical Water Pageant. Enjoy seeing this nightly from the Wilderness Lodge beach. It’s the longest running water parade at Disney, and if you loved the Electrical Main Street Parade at the Magic Kingdom, you’ll love this one set on the Seven Seas Lagoon.
There’s so many activities offered at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and these are just a few. As you can see, you’ll find all sorts of activities to get the most out of your time at the resort.
A Taste of the Pacific Northwest: Dining at the Wilderness Lodge
If you love good food, you’re in luck. The Wilderness Lodge offers several different restaurants to choose from. You’ll be able to enjoy just about all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer from seasonal seafood to hearty campfire fare. Let’s take a look at the dining options at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort.
Whispering Canyon Cafe
If you love barbecue and hearty Western food, Whispering Canyon Cafe is the perfect restaurant for you. This table service restaurant offers a la carte meals and all-you-care-to-eat skillets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One of my favorite things about Whispering Canyon Cafe? The hijinks and antics of the servers who work at the restaurant. Their cast members are known for their sassy remarks, which is all part of the fun. And, if you ask for ketchup, just wait to see what happens!
If you’re on the go at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Roaring Fork is a great spot to grab a quick service breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack. Some of the must-do’s? The Bananas Foster Waffles are the best way to start your day at breakfast. If you’re heading there for lunch or dinner, try the Wilderness Salad and Grilled Northwest Chicken Sandwich. And, don’t forget to a Magic Cookie Bar for dessert or for a snack. It’s a Roaring Fork favorite.
If you’re looking for more a more upscale dining experience, Artist Point offers just that. This signature table service restaurant serves classic Pacific Northwest cuisine in a beautifully themed restaurant, unlike any of the other restaurants at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. In addition to popular dishes like the Cedar Plank Salmon and Buffalo, you’ll be able to enjoy delicious seasonal dishes. Don’t miss out on the appetizers and desserts too. I adore the Cheese Plate served here, which has one of the best presentations I’ve ever seen. If you’re a wine drinker, enjoy their award winning collection of Pacific Northwest wines.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill
The newest restaurant to open at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is Geyser Point Bar & Grill, located near the Boulder Ridge Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you’ll find this open air quick service restaurant to be a nice step up from standard quick service fare. The views at this restaurant are spectacular too, and you’ll love dining al fresco with a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
There and Back Again: Disney Transportation to and from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
There’s so much to see and do at the lodge that you may never want to leave. But, when it’s time to venture into the parks, you have a few options when it comes to travel. Of course, you can drive a car, request a cab or use a service like Uber. But, chances are you’ll be using Disney’s transportation system at least a few times on your trip. The Wilderness Lodge offers a ferry service to and from the Magic Kingdom and monorail area resorts. So, you can travel in style by boat. Just head to the back of the resort and find the ferry dock. You can also use the Disney bus system which will take you to all the theme parks, the water parks, and Disney Springs. So, even though you might feel like you’re in a remote location, you’ll be able to get to and from the action any time.
